Why I Am Running
The Marines whom I served with in Iraq were and still are some of the most incredible group of men and women I have had the pleasure of working with. Together, we were able to accomplish the ultimate goal, which was to come home alive while accomplishing our duty and mission in Iraq. These experiences provided me with a spirit of togetherness and sense of pride that I plan to bring to our newly formed council. This is a time to reflect on and revaluate what could be possible if we all grow and work together.
Today and everyday, I think of the fact that although many of us made it home, some will never have that opportunity. I try to live my life and plan to run and serve our town in the memory of the fallen. I learned the valuable lessons of teamwork, inclusion, and hard work during my time in the military. This is a skill set that guides the way that I live today and allows me to put my heart into my community. Today, my heart is in Amherst and I know that regardless of race, religion, and gender, that if we work together as a community, the new town council can be successful in making Amherst an even better and more inclusive place to live than it is today.
This is how we will grow Amherst together.
